Pudota is a family name of the Kamma community hailing from Gandikota area of Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh -India. They had converted to Catholic faith way back in early 17th century. They are the pioneers of the Christian faith in he state of Andhra Pradesh along with Reddy and Padmashali communities. They were originally the soldiers of the Gandikota Kings who were the vassals of the Vijayanagara empire. Follwoing the fall of the Gandikota fort and the massacre of its inhabitants by the father of Tipu Sultan , the entire GANDIKOTA KAMMA Community migrated to the safety of the British empire to the north to Guntur District and to the south in Tamul Nadu. Today large number of Gandikota kammas are found in Tamil Nadu state.
